Katherine is a fiddler and string educator in Atlanta, Georgia USA. As a youth, Katherine attended and performed at ceilidhs, fiddle clubs, Scottish social clubs and competed at various Highland Games around the Southeast in Scottish Fiddle competitions -- earning a junior U.S. Scottish Fiddle Championship. Her teacher and mentor being the late and great 'Auld Fiddler', Bert Murray of Aberdeen, Scotland. After graduating from high school, she lost her fiddle under her bed for several years. When she rediscovered it in 1999, she realized she had developed a serious interest in traditional Irish fiddle. Traveling to Ireland and New York to pursue her 'new love' of traditional Irish fiddling, Katherine now directs The Atlanta Irish Music School and holds her TTCT teaching certificate from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
When she's not fiddling or tending her young daughters, she is a school orchestra teacher and an advocate for world strings-- especially quality traditional fiddle music from both Scotland and Ireland. She's the ring leader of 'Fionnula Fiddle'.
